I have exciting news, I am going to travel to de USA and Mexico! I am REALLY looking forward to learn about their culture, the government of both countries, their beliefs, and other things.

But I am not going to travel alone, I am going with some friends; Camila Baudelaire a.k.a Rememcreate (https://a016594444.blogspot.com/), Pauline Morandé a.k.a Meissa (https://pa01659307.blogspot.com/2020/08/my-profile.html), and Ivette Demaury Lallemant a.k.a Ive (https://01659405.blogspot.com/2020/08/my-profile.html).

MEXICO UPDATE

CHANGE/CONTINUITY: I have been studying about Mexico and I discovered things that changes before and after the Independence of Mexico, of course some things remained the same.

Changes:

  1. After the Independence of Mexico the country was left devastated and impoverished because of the expenses of the war.
  2. Politically, Mexico was  divided in two groups that wanted to rule Mexico in a different ways: the Liberals and the Conservatives. The Conservatives wanted to rule Mexico using that Spain used to rule them, and the Liberals wanted to use the model that USA was using to govern.
I think those changes were  influenced by document like the Constitution of Apatzingán and Sentimientos de la Nación, where it says that Mexico should be a republic instead of a monarchy and Mexico was an independent country.

CONTINUITIES: Although after the Independence of Mexico was successful something that still continued were the conflicts, for example: the liberals and conservatives that wanted different types of government.

Despite all of the things mentioned before I think I would prefer to live in the post-independence Mexico because:

  1. Before the Independence of Mexico, mexican people were treated very unfairly just because of their nationality or skin color.
  2. The difference between social classes before was really easy to spot.
  3. With the Spanish monarchy, the people that actually lived there didn´t have a say in the way the country was being ruled at that time.
COMPARISON/CONTRAST:

Comparison (France and Mexico):
  1. France and Mexico ended up with a very unstable economy after their independences
  2. After their independence, both countries had emperors as their rulers.
  3. After the wars, France and Mexico ended up with their countries with a lot of people killed and people in poverty.
Contrasts:
  1. After Agustín de Iturbide, Mexico had a president instead of an emperor.
  2. Mexico was divided very deeply in liberals and conservatives.
  3. In France, the church was a power in politics.

USA UPDATE

CONTEXT:
During our visit to USA we were informed that several things happened:
  1. The Indian Removal Act was signed into law on May 28, 1830, by Andrew Jackson
  2. The Petticoat affair (a scandal involving members of President A. Jackson´s Cabinet and their wives, from 1829 to 1831).
  3. The Tariff of 1832 (22nd Congress, session 1, ch. 227, 4 Stat. 583, enacted July 14, 1832).
I was quite surprised to hear about the Petticoat affair because I don´t think it was that serious to make fuss about it. I also thought that USA was a little bit more intelligent with economy but the tariff of 1832 caused a crisis. But the thing that shocked me the most was the Indian Removal Act, it was heartless to do that, I personally think people should respect the Indians and let them live like they want!

But at the same time I wasn´t that surprised about the Petticoat affair because sometimes people don´t know how to spend their time, so instead they just waste it in irrelevant things.

TIME/PLACE EXPERT
I think that France was inspired by their government way because we saw that they chose their presidents and we wanted to do that too.

I think something similar was happening with Mexico because they also had their independence and after they were independent, they chose their representative.

But i think that african people couldn´t do that because at that time they were seen as slaves to american people.

Blog Entry #1: 1810-1820

 DATE: June 3rd, 1815

AGE: 15 years

ACADEMIC FOCUS: I would like to study for a Bachelors History Degree because I am curious about what our ancestors did.

CONTEXT: I live in Paris and I wish emperors were more equal because there´s still a lot of inequality in France. But we also have problems with poverty and food. I really hope that the government changes.

CHANGE/CONTINUITY: It was a bit shocking to know that Ptolemaic Universe was proven wrong and instead learning that the Earth  revolves around the Sun. Nowadays we use the scientific method for literally EVERYTHING concerning things about the Earth. Also it was good that the women took part in the Scientific Revolution like Margaret Cavendish and Maria Winkelmann. And also in the Enlightenment we changed a lot our way of thinking, Maria Wollstonecraft began to speak up about women´s rights which made me very happy since we have been treated very unfairly. Bust I still think that the monarchs have way more power than they need which leads to inequality.

CAUSE/EFFECT: I think the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment happened because people noticed the World is a lot more complicated to understand and of course this caused a lot of conflicts but I think that if we put a little bit of more pressure we can achieve our goal.

TIME/PLACE: I think that in my school we focus more on our religion rather than other countries religions but I know that in Latin America they aren´t given the opportunity to rule their respective country since they are European colonies. I think people have different religions because we grew up in different places and the culture is very different.

PERSPECTIVES: Personally, my favorite philosopher from the Enlightenment is Maria Wollstonecraft since brought up women´s rights , she said that the power of men over women is wrong and stated the we can do the same as men.
